Housing

Safe housing is the anchor for transformation. It is also the most expensive service and to serve the >500 families turned away, Agape needs to expand housing capacity.

In this season of giving, help Agape remodel an office into a new Agape home so more moms & kids can enjoy safe, stable housing. Any gift can help Agape help moms & kids be safe & build hope.

$150 – One month utilities at existing house or help with sheet rock for new home

$250 – One plumber visit for existing house or paint for new home

$500 – ½ month’s rent or mortgage for existing house or flooring for one room for new home

$1,000 – 1 month’s rent or mortgage for existing house or help with kitchen appliances for new home

$2,500 – Walls, tape & bed for new home

$5,000 – Help with HVAC for new home

Childcare

Agape moms generally work shifts way beyond traditional childcare hours. And childcare is so expensive, moms must have help to work and go to school so she can break the poverty cycle and provide a better life for her family.

$50 – Four hours of care for ONE child while mom attends class or works late

$100 – Four hours of care for TWO children while mom attends class or works late

$250 – Saturday care for TWO children while mom works

$500 – ONE MONTH of child care subsidy for 1 mom with 2 children

Transportation

More than ½ of the women that enter Agape either do not have any car, or their car is held together with bailing wire – sometimes literally. To successfully escape poverty and homelessness, families must have reliable transportation to get moms to work and kids to school. Reliable transportation is expensive – but it is truly life changing. Agape welcomes both financial support and donations / low cost gently used cars as we help families overcome this debilitating barrier.

$100 – Gas cards for a month to get moms to work and kids to school

$250 – Registration and insurance assistance

$400 – New tires! Moms arrive with tires in dangerous condition!

$500 – Needed repairs to keep cars running

$1,000 – Help towards a gently used, low mileage dependable used car

Education

The ways and means for moms to increase earnings to self-sufficient levels is through education, vocational training and certifications. We work with each mom to choose a vocational path for which she can complete training during her time at Agape. The average cost of each course of study for tuition, books, certification tests is $2,000 – 3,000. Each Agapean pays a portion of these costs and scholarships through community giving cover the rest.

$100 – Books for 1 class

$250 – Scholarship for 1 class

$500 – Scholarship for 2 classes & / or certification tests

$1,000 – Scholarships for 1 semester of classes
